Overview

The Housing Choice Voucher Specialist administers tenant-based rental assistance for 300 to 400 low-income families and individuals in the Housing Choice Voucher program. Duties include eligibility screening, income verification, rent calculations, voucher issuance, recertifications, and landlord and client customer service. The position requires an associate's degree or equivalent experience and certification within one year of hire.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or better in business, public administration, urban studies, human or social services or related field; or 3 years progressively responsible related work experience, of which 2 years were in case management or property management capacity; or a combination of education and experience
• Minimum of three years of demonstrated hands-on experience effectively managing client caseloads of 300 to 400 clients
• Functional proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and proprietary software
• Must obtain the Housing Choice Voucher Specialist certification within one (1) year of hire
• Valid Illinois Driver's license and be insurable under the agency's commercial insurance policy
• Full-time use of personal vehicle
