Overview

The Peer Support Specialist provides non-clinical, peer-based recovery support to individuals working toward long-term recovery from mental health, physical health, and substance misuse challenges. The role involves facilitating peer support groups, helping clients develop recovery plans, and connecting them to community resources as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position is part-time and requires completion of PS101 training and Montana State Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist certification within six months of hire.

Requirements

  • Willing to publicly self-identify as being in recovery from a mental health condition, substance misuse, or addiction diagnosis
  • Complete PS101 within six months of hire, if not already completed
  • Obtain State Certified Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist (CBHPSS) certification within six months of hire
  • Complete all required trainings, including VIRTUS, within thirty days of employment
  • Successfully complete a background check as a condition of employment
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent lived experience, training, and relevant experience may be considered
