Overview

The Prototype Technician fabricates custom prototypes to engineering specifications for new products or customer projects under a supervisor. Duties include reading technical drawings, setting up and operating lathes, mills, CNC, press brake, and hand tools, and performing welding and metal fabrication. The role works closely with Engineering, maintains project records, and follows workshop safety protocols. It is a non-exempt, 40 hour per week, in-person position.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3 to 5 years of fabrication, machining, or welding preferred
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Set up and operate shop equipment and machine tools
• Perform welding and metal fabrication to specification
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and twist for long periods
