Overview

The Shelter Worker facilitates a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for shelter participants and visitors. Key duties include conducting intake interviews, data entry into the HMIS system, defusing conflicts with crisis intervention techniques, and maintaining site cleanliness. Staff also assist with meal preparation, phone reception, and perimeter checks.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• At least one year of Office/Reception and Data Entry experience
• Strong conflict resolution and communication skills
• Willingness to work with disenfranchised populations
• Ability to work shifts covering days, evenings, weekends, or overnights
• Experience in a nonprofit residential setting preferred
