Overview

The Operations Division maintains roughly 439 miles of county roads and responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position drives trucks with tandem or dual rear axles to haul materials, equipment, and people, and performs road maintenance, repair, resurfacing, and construction work. Duties also include snow plowing, ice control, traffic line and sign work, grounds keeping, and manual labor in all weather. The employer says people with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience driving a truck with tandem or dual rear axles and auxiliary equipment such as snow plow, salt spreader, power take-off, winch, and lift body
• One year of experience in cleaning, maintenance, and repair of roads or streets, or one year as a laborer in a public works department
• Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A or B
• Tanker endorsement for CDL, or must obtain it within 90 days of employment
• Must be able and willing to work all snowstorms, emergencies, and other on call events
