Overview
L'Arche Syracuse is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a shared community setting. In this role, you will assist residents with daily living activities, administer medications, prepare meals, and accompany core members to appointments and outings. The position focuses on fostering independence and providing compassionate, hands-on care.
Requirements
- Experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, first aid, and medication administration
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs
- Familiarity with developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, or special needs
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations
- Excellent communication and observational skills
